We stayed in one of the mid priced rooms which had a balcony with a great lake view. The room was average for a 2 star hotel, large, clean and has a typical shower and bathroom. If you have a car then this is the place to stay as you can forget about finding anywhere to park in Bellagio. If you don't have one then it is a bit too far from town. Didn't need air conditioning as the room was cool and airy. Not an insect in sight. Staff were friendly and helpful.
The hotel is very very cozy, very nice and cute lobby and reception. If weather is nice you can have breakfast outside. Some reviewers said bathrooms were bad but when we went a week ago they had completely renovated the bathrooms so they were nice. This was definitely and great B&B and better than a 2 star hotel... which is the rating it has.
I doubt there could be any location with a better view of Lake Como. The panorama from Il Perlo is breathtaking. The staff is friendly and accommodating. The breakfast is good. Lots of free parking on site. For one Euro each way, a van will take you down to the village below. Parking is awful in Bellagio so this is a great accommodation. We never used our car once in the three days we were there. Important: Make sure you get a room facing Bellagio and the lake. Cheaper rooms face the other way and are not nearly as nice or as large. Go for the extra few bucks. It's well worth it!!!!
Il perlo is a beautiful freindly B&B. The big selling point is the view - the photo's do not do it justice, it has to be experienced to be believed. The hotel is run by Piera and Carlo who are the perfect freindly and discreet hosts and offer great advice from a lifetime of local knowledge. They make you feel like a welcome guest in their home and are happy to make your stay a memorable one. It feels more like home than hotel. There is an unusual little beach about 20 minutes walk, and Bellagio itself is a great base from which to explore the lakes. This was my third visit in 12 years and I am glad to say that very little seems to have changed over that time.
